Is it March already?

Oh how time flies when you are chasing a toddler around. In Jan we spent three weeks nursing a sick Nyla (cold, ear infection, then flu) and I have been assured that her immune system is now "up and running." Those were three looonnngg weeks of being in-doors and staying warm. We did venture out for our annual two-day snow storm. Although our usually adventurous LaLa liked to watch the neighborhood kids go down the driveways on their sleds, she would have nothing to do with it.

Nyla achieved a huge developmental milestone this month that Mama was (not so patiently) waiting for. Yes, that's right, she finally allowed me to put "ponies" in her hair. And oh what fun we had.



The fun lasted awhile and then the struggle to get the pony's in and out eventually made it not such a fun thing. So, after a haircut gone bad, we are back to bangs. Being the girl of may styles, she made sure to balance her "girly-girl" look out with "athletic girl."

Every day it seems that our girl is adding new words to her vocabulary. Her latest phrases are: "right back," when she walks out of a room or, "oh dear," when something isn't right. When she was sick she would cough and we would give her the parental pat on the back and ask, "are you OK?" Now after coughing she will smack her butt and say, "K?" (it's hard to reach your back when you are 19 months). Today I noticed a scratch on the wall and said, "oh no, a scratch." Nyla walked over and pointed to the scratch and said, "itchy." We also think she may have been studying Spanish in the womb since she often puts her adjectives after her nouns (i.e. "wawa pink" for her pink water cup) and now refers to herself as "La" when in a hurry ("La go downstairs").

One day she insisted she couldn't read her book until she found her glasses...
